In addition to writing essays and the like on this site, I also write a weekly-ish email newsletter. It’s parallel to this site – you’ll get new (and usually smaller and more personal) essays and thoughts unconnected to the monthly activity of this site.
What Exactly do I write?
Generally, I write book reviews, cultural critiques, and essays focusing on the intersection of culture mythology, systemic issues that affect our day-to-day lives, and deconstructing what we’ve taken for granted. “Actionable” is not my favorite way of phrasing this, but I engage with real life. How we live, percieve, and think has massive effects on others. The personal is political. Your lifestyle does not exist in a vacuum. Etc.
Why am I doing this (and who the fuck am I)?
Solid questions all around. All I can say for now is that this is an effort in eliminating the destructive power of complacency. “This is how it’s always been,” is a recipe for being a complicit participant in someone else’s bid for power (i.e. oppression). The cultural objects we engage with on a hourly basis are not innocent, nor sacred. I am working on lining up my lifestyle with my beliefs. And I want to share that with you, so we hopefully can work on it together.
